I finally decided to continue blogging. I will have a major change around this blog started from posting English articles. And I have decided to start with Top 10 Badass Women in Fictional Universe.
These days, so many badass women in fictional universe as a secondary character or even a major character of a movie or video games. This list taken from any fictional universe including books, anime, movies, and video games. So let's start with number :
10. Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) - Marvel Universe
A formerly KGB, she alleged to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent. This woman is definetly goes into my list.
She is one of a few not super-powered superhero as she fights with hand to hand combats, cool acrobatics skills and devastating spy gears. Even she hasn't a film about herself yet, (yes, there will be a film about her) she has shown she is very important to Marvel Universe as she featured in many films of Marvel even she's with the Avengers!
9. Trudy Chacon - Avatar (2009)
A formerly SecOps pilot in a James Cameron Film, Avatar, she alleged to fight with Na'vi after she felt wrong with her actions joining RDA attack Home Tree.
She had her own ship and piloted it until her death. While she was a SecOps pilot, she still felt guilty for laying waste innocent men. She was a skilled pilot who could pilot a ship in flux where nobody could navigate and see with a full caution.
In the real universe, she played by Michelle Rodriguez who usually plays a badass woman in films.
8. Jodie Holmes - Beyond : Two Souls
She has an entity who sticks with her and can do anything with him. But instead of just live with him, she struggled to get rid of him.
(SPOILER ALERT)
After her step father looked her as a monster, she lived inside a laboratory with Nathan Dawkins. After she grown up, she joined the CIA and did missions. After she realised that CIA used her, she ran away. She has been through the evil entity in deserts and lived with homeless people for a while.
After a long saddened story with her in Beyond : Two Souls, I made her in this list for good.
7. Hit Girl - Kick-Ass
She is a crime fighter girl with crazy matrial arts and acrobatics skill. She is a superhero without power. And she is Hit Girl.
Her real name is Mindy McCready. She trained by her father to fight crime with him, Big Daddy. After her father's death, she swore to live as a superhero and fight crimes. As she grown up and entered high school, she struggled to keep her job as a secret to her guardian, Marcus but failed. Then, she stopped being a crime fighter and came back after she realise that she could place her anger and her grief to do something good as a superhero and helped Kick-Ass to defeat Chris D'Amico.
Her skills and bravery makes her into this list!
6. Dana Mercer - Prototype
While the others from the list is actively contributed in physical skills, she is a badass from her minds and her important role in the Prototype series.
In Prototype series, she is an informant for both protagonist character, Alex Mercer and James Heller. She's sister of the first Prototype protagonist and the second Prototype antagonist, Alex Mercer. She did research to help the protagonist to reach their goal (for Mercer : to search who made him evolved, for Heller : to kill Alex Mercer for killing his family and made him an evolved).
As a badass, she surely smart enough to help the protagonist in gathering information and she has her own codename, Athena, as the Blackwatch know her job as the informant and a rebel leader against the Blackwatch.
After she saw her brother slipping away from the right way, she felt that her brother she once knew has dead and want Heller to kill him as Alex Mercer is no longer a brother she once knew.
Her smarts and her role in Prototype makes her into the list!
5. Lin Beifong - The Legend of Korra
She's the police chief of Republic City police. And she has a reputation as daughter of Toph Beifong. She is a strong but stubborn woman like her mother.
She has shown many resemblance to her mother in her personality. Like what I said, she is a stubborn and hotheaded woman like her mother. She's loyal to her friends and anyone on her side as she willingly sacrifice herself for her companions. Despite she has so many resemblance to her mother, she showed herself as a strict person when it comes with rules and regulations as her mother was more rebelious.
She's a master of earthbending and metalbending as her mother taught them to her. She could do extreme acrobatics like swinging with metal cables like Spiderman.
While she always looked strong, she had a problem with her sister, Suyin Beifong, and it was a great burden for herself. She and her sister was fighting for their mother's attention as their mother choose to gave them freedom to choose their life. In the end, their mother was upset that Lin and Suyin not becoming what she wanted. She ended this family matter after she fought with her and passed out after a session of acupuncture. She confessed that she loves her sister before she attacked P'Li and gave her sister a chance to strike the Sparky Sparky Boom Girl.
Her bravery and her passion makes her into this top 10 list.
4. James Kidd a.k.a Mary Read - Assassin's Creed : Black Flag
She was a pirate but she was an assassin, too. She struggled to fight the Templars in her disguise as a bastard son of William Kidd, James Kidd and became a pirate as she did. In years she became a boy and no one knows her as a woman except her mother. She revealed her identity to Edward Kenway, a pirate and an assassin while they were on a quest to question and kill the slaver, Laurens Prins.
She's the voice of reason for Edward Kenway. She struggled to make Kenway go to the right path and forget his search for the Observatory and prosper live. She was the one who convinced the master Assassin, Ah Tabai, to accept him as Kenway has a sense like the other Assassin. She always wanted Kenway to do something good and forget his pursue of glory as his pursuit had lead so many death.
She was captured in an ambush while Rachkam and other crew drunk, left her with Anne Bonny and a misterious man fought themself. She pleaded her belly and the judge let her live until the child born. Her child taken away and she felt into sickness because of dirty conditions of jail.
She let out her last breath while Edward Kenway struggled to save her from the prison. In her last breath, she said she had done her part and asked Kenway will he done his part. She also said that she will always be with Edward Kenway. Her death become the most saddened part of Assassin's Creed : Black Flag and I choose her to be in this list.
3. Karliah - The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim
While I could put the main character of this game, Female Dovahkiin, I choose Kariah to be in this list. She's a Nightingale who has been framed by Mercer Frey as the killer of previous Thieves Guild Master, Gallus Decidenus. She spent 20 years of lies on running away and doing tricks to make Mercer Frey look bad in front of the client, Maven Black-Briar.
She struggled by herself to uncover the reality that Mercer Frey is the one who killed Gallus for his own advantages. She even tried to make Mercer look bad in front of Maven by herself.
As she is a loyal servant and a Nightingale for Daedric Prince Nocturnal, she has a great skill of sneaking and fighting. But after failed to protect the skeleton key from being taken away, she felt guilty and struggled to get Nocturnal's trust again. Her loyalty to Nocturnal was tested for over 20 years and she finally got Nocturnal's trust after her determined her goal to set a revenge for Mercer Frey.
Her struggle and how she gained Nocturnal's trust again makes her into number 3 of this list.
2. Erza Scarlet - Fairy Tail
She's the only one who comes from anime or manga universe in this list. And she is Erza.
She is an S-Class Mage of Fairy Tail. She is very strong and has a mastery level of swordmanship. She is a very beautiful one as she won the Miss Fairy Tail contest once. She has a great confidence to fight whatever that stands on her way.
She is described as a strong yet fragile woman. She was a slave in Tower of Heaven construction. She was the one who lead the rebelion to escape the tower. But she was framed by Jellal Fernandes and kept the burden in herself for a long time. She was seen very emotional while she must fight her old friends in Tower of Heaven. Her burden was left away when Jellal was defeated and the Tower of Heaven destroyed.
It's hard to gain her trust. It was seen in Tenrou Island arc, she didn't want Gajeel to be an S-Class because she still didn't trust him. She was carefully kept her pain by herself and struggled to look strong in front of everyone.
She has a rather uniquely habit. She always seen with a large carriage when she goes to a mission. She likes to eat cheesecake and sweet things. She is a strict person who will do anything to keep the rule in order.
1. Toph Beifong - Avatar : The Last Airbender
And finally, number 1. She is strong. She is cool. Yet she shows us that disability is not the limit. And she is Toph Beifong. While I put one of her daughter, Lin Beifong, in number 5 of this list, I felt that I must put her on this list too as she is the one who inspires us.
She is a blind girl with a great skill of earthbending. She is considered as the best earthbender in the world. With her earthbending, she saw the world with her earthbending. From her blindness, she gained an enchanched hearing.
She learnt how to earthbending from its original bender, badgermole. She was running away and lost in caves. She met the badgermole and became a fast friend after they share a similarity : blindness. She learnt how to see with sensing the vibrations around her. She even reached a mastery level of earthbending.
The coolest thing is, she was the one who discovered how to metalbend. Using her sense, she could saw earth inside the metal and broke out of a metal cage. She began to teach metalbend after 100 years war was over and built Beifong Metalbending Academy.
She was the inspiration of the series. Even she is a rebellious person, she shows us that disability is not the limit. She shows us to believe in ourself and never give up. Even when she has two children, she shows us that she has to do anything to keep her responsibilities in order.
