Review : Charlotte, a Good Way To End If You Stand in My Side

People said this anime is a major disappointment. But not for me because I sucessfully stand in the place where I could see how the plot works and how Jun Maeda wanted to say it beneath the animations. To watch this anime, you must have a very different viewpoint from yourself to make this anime a fun yet a good one.

First, let me say few things that made this anime a little bit disappointment.
First, this anime was putting the main plot too late. If this anime was 22-24 episode long, I would say "Okay, that's okay..." But this anime only has 13 episodes. A same mistake from Angel Beats! repeated in this anime. 13 episodes didn't have much time to fool around. In the end, it feels like they hurry this anime too much. Too many plotholes that still need patches in the end. Or maybe Jun Maeda have another plan for explaining the plotholes like a manga series or another visual novel?
Because of that, it causes many things left unexplained like the syndicate of abilities wielder or where the evil scientists now. Or even something simpler like Jojiro Takajo's history or background story that made him ends up in Houshinoumi Academy.

Then, let me explained how my viewpoint works so I could enjoy this anime so much.
What am I looking from the beginning is how Yuu Otosaka's ability imperfect? Since the beginning you got Takajo who could not stop himself at the spot he wants or Tomori who could only become invisible on one specific person. In the latter episode you found out that Yusa could not control her channeling ability by herself. Then you learn, every ability has its own consequences. Takajo who always end up in hospital, Tomori who gets bullied by other students, or Misa who wants to meet her sister but always misses it. Even Ayumi's collapse ability could kill its user if used. So what will happen if Yuu used his power too much? His brother and sister's ability could cause a major toll for its user.
What I feel first is, you can't cheat death. If you travel through time back and save a person from his/her death, someone must be dead in trade of his/her life. And this happen when Yuu traveled back to save Ayumi but he got Kumagami's death in exchange of his sister's life. And you started to learn what is the real consequences of Yuu's ability : memory loss. It drove him feel uncertain and mostly insane. And because of this there's something that made me cry (And this time, Jun Maeda's waterworks magic affect me again).
Many people not realize it but I realize it. When Yuu is gone depressed and insane, there is Tomori who will save him from despair. In the time after Yuu lost his sister, Tomori watched over him and saved him from using drugs and made him alive again. The other time when Yuu started to fell to insanity when he's plundering every single ability in this world, Tomori's flash card save him from falling into the darkness and made him alive again even he didn't remember anything because of his ability started to eat out his memories. In his journey of plundering every single ability, he started to have memory loss but still remembered that he had a promise to return back even he did not remember to whom he promised with. In the end he lost every of his memory but still remembered that Tomori's flash card is something that saved him from many occassions. And he did his promise to come back to Tomori *Cries...*

To see this anime as a good one, you could start to see from a different angles and feel Jun Maeda's waterworks on there.
