Legend of Korra Book 4 Episode 3 Review - It Started to Reveal Something...

Today, episode three was released with a title The Coronation. Its title really describing what happen inside this episode and I will break it down for you with Top 5 moments of this episode with some of my predictions. But before that...

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!
And you have been warn...

5. Suyin and Baatar Jr.'s Conflict
Baatar Jr. and Suyin Beifong's Confrontation
It seems the conflict between Suyin Beifong and her son, Baatar Jr., is more complicated than it should be. Suyin and Baatar Jr. finally reunited in a hotel in Republic City before the coronation. Baatar Jr. remarked to her that he was no junior anymore, just Baatar. Something tells me the conflict is involving Suyin's husband, Baatar. Not just that, it seems the conflict is involving Kuvira, Bataar Jr.'s future wife (for those who don't know, Kuvira and Bataar Jr. is engaged), Suyin has a great hatred for this Zaofu former captain. Whatever Kuvira and Baatar Jr. had done, it must be hurting Su and her other family member a lot since Su couldn't forgive whatever Kuvira and Baatar Jr. has done. Moreover, Suyin seemed not happy with the engagement of her son with Kuvira and made her relationship with her oldest son strained more and more.

4. Brother vs. Brother
And the clash was started...
Bolin and Mako finally reunited! But they were in different side. Mako was on Prince Wu and world leaders' side and Bolin was in Kuvira's side. As Kuvira renounced herself as the true leader of Earth Kingdom (or should I say, Earth Empire), Bolin felt wrong about this. Kuvira managed to convince Bolin back on her side after Bolin said his feeling about Earth Empire to her. After that, Bolin decided to meet Mako and attempted to convince Mako to go with him. Mako refused and stated that he didn't want to join Kuvira and her military dictatorship. Bolin got angry and insulted him for working with Prince Wu. Mako frustated with this even he accepted Prince Wu's silly invitation to go to Little Ba Sing Se fashion mall with a treat of smoothie.  The clash between brothers are really do come true. The tense between Mako and Bolin are growing bad and hot. But I think Opal will do a resolution in this conflict between brothers as she is Bolin's girlfriend and she and Mako hate Kuvira because of the same reason, Kuvira's power greed. I see Opal as Bolin's voice of reason in this book and the ONLY reason Bolin would turn his side.

3. When Kuvira's Plans are Exposed, Your Loyalty is Tested
Evil Kuvira is... not too evil? Or purely evil?
Kuvira's plans are slowly exposed started with her announcement in Prince Wu's corronation. She stated some reason why people must support her. And I think she didn't only convinced people in the Avatar universe but in the REAL universe. Some of you may think that Kuvira is right and deserve to be supported even she is the main villain of this book. With Prince Wu is a douche, you really want to think again about your allegiance with him. I even have some conflicts inside me what side I need to choose : Kuvira who is right because she has done something to make Earth Kingdom better but wrong because she tried to rule Earth Kingdom with military dictatorship, or Price Wu who is right because he is the rightful one who recieve the throne and he got other world leader on his side but wrong because he is a douche and haven't done anything to make Earth Kingdom better. Bryan and Mike surely know how to make Legend of Korra fans have their own mind and make the story more interesting. With this, the fans loyalty to the right side being tested. It's like how Star Wars fans choosing side between the Rebels and the Empire.

2. Mako's Word of Wisdom
Mako's word really got into Wu's heart...
In this episode, Mako told Prince Wu word of wisdom that made Wu thinked about his behaviour. Mako questioned Wu, does he is the leader the earth citizen wants? He added how Kuvira gained so many supports on her side and how he ruined himself. Finally the stubborn Wu melted down and felt guilty about himself. He said that he was a joke and he got what he deserves. I think there will be a major change on Wu's character after this moment. Wu finally realise what he has done and tried to fix it before he could be the real leader. However I have been thinking that the Earth Kingdom will be taken neither by Prince Wu or Kuvira. I think the position of earth kingdom leadership will fall to Suyin Beifong's hand as her problem with Baatar Jr. and Kuvira resolving. Mako's word of wisdom really change my prespective who must be the leader of Earth Kingdom and I can't think other than Beifongs. Since Toph has been too old for this job and Lin has been a chief of Republic City Police, I think its Suyin will ascend as the rightful ruler of Earth Kingdom. But this all is STILL only a prediction and an opinion. I couldn't guarantee what will happen in the real episodes.

1. Toph Trained Korra
Nu-uh, no huggies...
And in number one, I placed Toph's training in the top of this list. Finally Toph Beifong, the greatest earthbender ever, agreed to train the avatar again. But this time is not Aang but Korra. After few negotiations with Toph, Korra managed to convince Toph to train her. I like how Toph in this episode. The creators still bring in the original Toph character, being like to beat up other people and make fun of the Avatar. I love how Toph said that she is the original Beifong after Korra said that she thought Beifong (in this case Lin) is grumpy. She remarked where Lin got that personality and that's no other than from her mother herself.

Toph still shows a great agility and mastery of earthbening
Beaten...
Toph trained Korra by sparring fight. Korra continously beaten up by Toph and her amazing skill. Even in her old age, Toph showed a great agility and an extreme skill of seissmic sense. When she asked by Korra why she chose to disconect with the world, she answered that she felt more connected to the world as the vines and the roots of the swamp spread across the world. She stated how she can see her daughters, Zaofu, Republic City, and everything in the world. It made me remember a waterbender named Huu in Avatar : the Last Airbender. He was a waterbender who lived in the swamps and got an enlightment about connections of the vines, roots, and the world. In the Avatar : the Legend of Aang episode, The Swamp, Aang got a vision about Toph and flying boar in the very swamp where he met Huu. I think there's a connection between that vision and how Toph ended in that swamp.

Who do you think you are talking to?? Hm??
After Korra and Toph finished their training, Korra complained about how she couldn't feel herself anymore. In Toph side, she said that she really missed tormenting the Avatar. After Korra explained how really she feels, Toph stated that there's a bit of metal poison inside Korra and felt patethic to Korra because Korra couldn't feel it. After Korra convinced Toph (and getting shoved by Toph), Toph agreed to get the poison out of Korra. She failed to get the poison out because Korra's memory about Zaheer made her not relaxed. Toph said that Korra purposedly do not want to take out the poison to run from her job as Avatar. Korra denied it but Toph still refused to help.

Meelo Strikes Again!
I really look after the next episode since Tenzin deployed his children to search Korra and bring her back. I got spoilers that the next episode title is The Calling and I think it maybe Korra's calling to get back to the real world. And I really wish Toph tag along with Korra and have a family reunion with Lin and Suyin. What's your prediction for the next episode?
