Legend of Korra Book 4 Episode 2 Review - Touchy, Very Touchy

The waiting is done. It's all revealed here. After seasons of Legend of Korra, I finally found a very touchy yet shocking episode. It's Korra Alone, episode 2 of Book 4 : Balance. This episode is full with phsycological sadness, rage, and desperateness. I will start to review this episode by Top 5 Moments but before that...

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!
And you have been warn...

I will start from...

5. Korra Traveled Alone
Travel Alone...
2 years of desperation being so weak, Korra decided to travel to Repubic City alone.

Alone... Alone... Alone...

Korra was trying to run from her identity as the Avatar but she could not, as she always be an Avatar. This made me remember an Avatar : The Last Airbender episode, Zuko Alone. In that episode, Zuko tried to throw away his past as Fire Kingdom Prince but he failed and back as an outcast of Fire Kingdom in the very end of that episode.

This Korra Alone episode is a refference to Zuko Alone episode as said in Avatar Wikia. This episode is really draw how loneliness attacks Korra in her quest to search an answer from her desperation.

4. Korra Lost Connection with Raava
Korra with Young Spirits
As Korra traveled to Spirit World and meditate in Tree of Time, she met with young spirits who wonder why she wasn't seen much. Korra revealed to the young spirits that she lost her connection with Raava. The other spirit concluded that's why he could not feel Raava's presence in Korra.

I think that's why she felt so weak and so traumatic. She felt Raava is gone from her and she searched how to connect with Raava once more. It's really the same like when Korra got seperated with Raava in Book 2 : Spirits. She felt weak and desperate. I think the presence of Raava affect her mind, her spirit, and of course her physical performance.

3. Korra in Heavily PTSD Problem
Korra Started to Have Hallucinations...
Her last fight with Zaheer in the end of Book 3 made her severly wounded, not just her physical body but her spirit and mind. She started to have hallucinations about herself in Avatar State that kept attack her time to time. In three years time she still couldn't relieve this situation and decided to face this problem alone.

I think Korra suffered PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder). Her PTSD caused from her severly injured condition and her nearly death fight with Zaheer. In this episode, it showed how Korra felt so much stress and desperation. She started to have hallucinations like war veterans. However, nobody could heal her from this physcological problem and she started to injure herself because of this hallucinations.

2. Too Much Star Wars Refferences
While this episode started to crawl into the end of line, I felt something. Yes, it's a refference of Star Wars! Remember Star Wars V : The Empire Strikes Back when Luke crashed in Dagobah and met Yoda? Somehow Korra's journey to the swamp really made me remember about this episode.

Not just about Korra's journey to the swamp, but how she met Toph Beifong. Too much Star Wars refferences.

I know that Mike and Bryan lived in the day of Star Wars awesomeness, but I didn't think they will get this far. Then, I saw an interesting fanart. Yess... It's Korra and Toph look like Luke and Yoda while they in Dagobah. The fans are one minded!!

Not just that, at NYCC, the creators of Legend of Korra talked about the concepts of Book 4. While they talked about Kuvira's Army, they said the metalbender looked Storm Troopery with a little bit samurai-ish. It's more than a clue that they love Star Wars so much.

1. The Melon Lord!!
"Nice to see you again, Twinkle Toes..."
The Melon Lord finally made an appearance. In the end of the episode, Toph Beifong revealed to have lived in Swamp for years. She found Korra passed out in mud and brought her to a cave where she lived.

She recognized Korra as an Avatar even she was blind. She called Korra as Twinkle Toes, Aang's nickname from Toph. The biggest question is how she knew Korra as an Avatar even she hasn't met her yet? I think she has an extremely mastery of seissmic sense that she could sense until someone's spirit and Korra's spirit is an Avatar spirit (or should I say, Raava's spirit) and it would be the same for Aang.

I loved how Toph enters the episode. A spirit guided Korra to see her as she is the one who can help Korra with her PTSD problem. Even I have gotten a list what I want to see with Toph in Book 4 of Legend of Korra :
- Toph teaches Korra seissmic sense or earthbending
- Toph helps Korra with her PTSD problem
- Toph earthbending action
- Toph back in a battle
- Toph vs Kuvira's Army or Kuvira or other villains
- And finally a family reunion with Lin and Suyin as they have reconciled with each other
I really look after when Lin and Suyin met their mother after a long time. I really wish Toph will say "I proud of you two." to her daughters as a proof that she still loves Lin and Suyin and proud to be their mother.

So, what do you want with Toph in this season?
